Notice to the tax payers of Echols County

It is the responsibility of the taxpayer to notify the office of the Tax Assessors of any changes to their property (Tax Payers Return of Real Property – PT50R) between Jan 1st and April 1st of the year following the year when the changes were made. (Example: removing or adding a building, shed, or portable building, etc.)

The Tax Assessors do not visually inspect every parcel in the county every year; therefore, for the return to stay current the tax payer must notify the Assessor’s office during this period in order for their tax bill to be prepared correctly. It is the objective of the Board of Assessors of Echols County, that all tax payers be treated fair, equal and accurate.

Tree removal and clean-up at the Statenville Cemetery will begin on December 18.  We anticipate work will stop on 22 December and then commence on 2 January. This work stoppage will allow residents to safely visit with their loved ones during the Holidays.
