Echols County government: provides high quality essential services for Echols residents and as many other services as tax revenues allow; spends and accounts for tax dollars in a responsible manner; responds to needs and concerns of the citizens; and conducts business in an open and professional manner without favoritism.
The Board sets direction and formulates policies for the county government, adopts the budget, and approves or disapproves specific actions. Commissioners are elected “at large”. They can live in any area of the county and run for either of the three posts. All commissioners are part time and the Board of Commissioners selects who will be the Chairman.

The Board holds official business meetings the first Thursday of each month usually at 7:00 pm with a 30 minute workshop prior to the meeting. Informal discussions as well as official meetings are always open to the public.
